"The fact that children can make beautiful music is less significant than the
fact that music can make beautiful children."
- Cheryl Lavendar
Welcome to the music page! I am excited to begin my second year here at McFadden, having spent the past two schools years as a music teacher at Salem Elementary School with Murfreesboro City Schools and previously Rutherford County Schools for five years at Smyrna Elementary School. I've taught general music, choir, beginning band, and handchimes in Illinois and Pennsylvania before moving to Tennessee in 2007. I hope to create a safe and welcoming environment in which all students become proficient music makers who sing comfortably and in tune, move comfortably in response to music, and are sensitive to the expressive qualities in music. It is an honor and a privilege to continue to provide an enriching music education to the students and families at McFadden.
I have been married to my husband, Scott, for fifteen years and we have two daughters, Julia (14) and Lily (12) that both attended McFadden and are now in middle school and high school at Central Magnet. As a family, we enjoy camping and kayaking with our three dogs, Sunny, Natasha, and Yelena, and relaxing on the lake.
